Weapons like the literal axes, the Golem's Halberd, and maybe Ghizas Wheel and the Fallingstar Beastjaw could have been the axes, while the rest could be classed as hammers. This way there could have been better moveset variety for these weapons, since the regular Colossal moveset just doesn't go well with the axe and axe-like weapons.

I'm wondering how good this weapon is/what build it works for. I tried respec to 30/30 quality (at the cost of my incantations and other bleed weapons) and it kinda seems really weak when you want to bleed an enemy compared to something like flails or the naginata with bloodflame.

The weapon art is honestly kinda dookie. It doesn't trigger stuff like Winged Sword Insignia and Millicents Prosthesis, it bugs tf out against big bodies and ends up doing way less damage than it should, and the bleed buildup is nowhere near as good as it seems like it would be. Coupled with the hammer talisman you'll almost always win vs a fingerprint shield. Unless of course, they have bloodhound step. It’s a great weapon. Don’t be fooled by the low numbers on paper.
